Royal Oxen
Sauce Jar Labels

Royal Oxen Kitchen was founded in 2018 by Viet, a Bay Area native on a culinary journey. Originally operating as a restaurant in the co-op kitchen East Bay Eats, Royal Oxen Kitchen later shifted its focus from Vietnamese dishes to crafting signature sauces for retail and farmers’ markets. Without a label to showcase their product, I stepped in to design one that captured the essence of their sauce.

Existing Design

The sauce jars went through several variations to find the right fit. Eventually, a small 4oz jar was chosen, but the existing sticker label was too large. I designed a new label that fit within the jar’s shorter height while ensuring it remained visually striking.

The Final Design

The circular logo initially took up too much of the limited space available. To create better balance, we centered it while leaving room for essential text. Later, Viet decided to switch to a hexagon-shaped jar for a better grip, prompting further design adjustments. As new sauces are introduced, the labels will continue to evolve.
